It's been a rough month, to say the least. The second Trump presidency is worse than most of us expected, and the response from most Democrats has so far been anemic.
The closing of Governor Pritzker's budget address last week was exactly the wake-up call that we need from our leaders right now. The Governor will speak at our 50th Anniversary Gala on Sunday, March 2, which you will not want to miss. Get your Gala tickets here before they sell out.
There are a handful of other voices that we need to elevate right now, and chief among them is Anderson Clayton, the Chair of the Democratic Party of North Carolina. Anderson will give the keynote speech at our Gala. She is a key voice in the push to organize everywhere and to reconnect with voters who don't feel seen by the Democratic Party due to our failure to have a clear economic message that addresses their concerns. Anderson was elected Chair at the age of 25 in 2023, and led her state to better down ballot results than any other swing state last fall.
Here is the full list of confirmed speakers (so far): Governor JB Pritzker Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton Anderson Clayton, NC Dems Chair Nabeela Syed (HD-51) Rep. Robin Kelly (IL-02) Rep. Chuy García (IL-04) Rep. Delia Ramirez (IL-03) Rep. Sean Casten (IL-06) Rep. Bill Foster (IL-11) Treasurer Mike Frerichs Senate President Don Harmon Senator Karina Villa Senator Christina Castro County Board Member, Paula Deacon Garcia Ian Holzhauer, Naperville City Council John Atkinson
Are you able to attend a small reception with me and Anderson on Sunday, March 2 in Downers Grove at 2:00 pm? Registration and donations can be made here. This event benefits both the NC Democratic Party and the Democratic Party of DuPage County, of which I am Chair.
