Your personal stamp of approval

Greetings!

Thoughts on celebrating Labor Day

Of course, this coming weekend is a great time to focus on and appreciate how the Labor movement in this country has provided us so much (including the weekend!) and if you'd like to celebrate by direct action, please do so by supporting the Local Mechanics 701 strike HERE.

Additionally, there is a deeper component to "work" which is outlined by Sister Joan Chittister, a founding member of The Global Peace Initiative of Women--a partner organization of the UN--who says this
"A spirituality of work puts us in touch with our own creativity. Making a salad for supper becomes a work of art. Planting another evergreen tree becomes our contribution to the health of the world. Organizing a good meeting with important questions for the sake of preserving the best in human values enhances humanity. Work enables us to put our personal stamp of approval, our own watermark, the autograph of our souls on the development of the world. In fact, to do less is to do nothing at all."

Where will you put your personal stamp of approval
this Labor Day and beyond?

August 22nd, 2017

Greetings!

Who got to see your smiling face this past week?
We hope you were able to join us last week which was certainly one for the DPDC "Baby Book", as they say. On top of organizing people for Democrats Day in Springfield on the 17th, the Events Team went ABOVE AND BEYOND to provide TWO amazing days this week in DuPage; the August 18th Golf Outing at Prairie Landing and the August 20th Annual DPDC Picnic at Churchill Woods.
Thanks to Paul Adams, Joanne Tyree and their teams for their dedication! Thanks, too, to our special guests on Sunday including U.S. Senator Dick Durbin and former governor Pat Quinn!
Scroll on down to see where you can find yourself this week!
(clockwise from left: Crowd gathers to hear one of many candidates who came to visit on Sunday; Liam Warren meets Senator Dick Durbin; Cynthia Borbas, Wayne Chair, Julianna Stratton, and Wayne Highway Commish Martin McManamon; Smiling DPDC folks including Program Director Dawnn Basaraba (far left) and County Board Member Liz Chaplin, (center); Chairman Peickert thanks the organizers and the crowd; Pat Quinn revs up the audience for a spectacular 2018!)
