Another Election Cycle, Fair Tax Day, DuPage Dems Difference Maker and Trivia Night

Another election cycle begins...

Another election cycle begins with the majority of Americans still wanting…

Medicare for all

And pay parity

And equality for LGBTQ citizens

And humane immigration policies

And protection for Social Security

And universal background checks on gun purchases

And congressional action to protect Dreamers

And convenient access to safe abortion services

And an EPA that actually protects the environment

And treating our NATO allies as allies

And strong government oversight

And respect for the rule of law

And a livable minimum wage

And net neutrality protections

And paid maternity and sick leave

And appropriate scorn for racists, bigots and misogynists

And less influence in election funding by corporations/wealthy

And full funding and strengthening of the Affordable Care Act

And equal opportunities for women and minorities

And consumer protections that actually protect consumers

And a strong, independent press

And reality-based sex ed

And well-funded public schools

And criminal justice reform

And more investment in green energy

And higher taxes on the rich

And restrictions on assault weapons

And universal Pre-K

And marijuana legalization

And leaders who put country over party

These are all issues the Democratic Party fights for. We are on the right side of issues and the right side of history. Our communities need us to stay motivated and get ready for the fight in 2020 & Beyond. Thank you for continuing to fight the good fight.

DuPage Dems Difference Maker - Beth Brownson

Beth has been an active participant in Illinois Democratic politics for more than for more than four decades. Currently, she is the Precinct Committeeman for Precinct 54 in Downers Grove and an active volunteer.

Beth has served as the Secretary of Downers Grove Township Democratic Organization since 2004 and of the Democratic Party of DuPage County from 2004-2008. She served on the Executive Board of the DPDC from 1992-2008. She has served as a Precinct Committeeperson in Naperville Township from 1977-1996, York Township from 1997-2001, and Downers Grove from 2004-present. She was also a candidate for State Representative sometime during her time in Naperville. Her home was the polling place for her precinct in Naperville until 1980 until there was a commercial site in the precinct.

Beth was one of the founding members of the Democratic Women of DuPage County and served as Recording Secretary from 2010-2012.

In addition to her dedication to Democrats in DuPage County, Beth provides service to the community through other organizations. Currently she serves as the Secretary for Assistance League of Chicagoland West, a philanthropic organization that serves local families with education and outreach programs.

It's time Illinois has a tax system that works for everyone, not just the wealthy few. That's why we hope you'll join us on April 30th in Springfield for the Fair Tax Day of Action! With the legislature planning to vote on the fair tax amendment in the coming weeks, there's never been a more important time to make our voices heard on this critical issue. Just A Few Ways To Celebrate Earth Day Every Day

Earth Day is a day of civic participation and political action focused on protecting our environment. Here are just a few ways you can help celebrate and carry on the work inspired by Earth Day.

Calculate your Carbon Footprint and then take action: Carbon Calculator.

Switch to energy-efficient light bulbs at home or work.

Switch to reusable bags for your weekly shopping.

Organize or participate in a cleanup effort (Adopt-A-Highway, Pond Sweep, etc…).

Volunteer at an Environmental Organization.

CNN Town Hall Event - Tonight

Join CNN live tonight from New Hampshire for the first major candidate event of the 2020 Presidential campaign. Senator Bernie Sanders, Senator Kamala Harris, Senator Elizabeth Warren, Senator Amy Klobuchar and Mayor of South Bend Indiana, Pete Buttigieg, all on the same stage, back to back. Moderated by Anderson Cooper, Chris Cuomo and Don Lemon.

DuPage Dems Difference Maker - Tina Tyson-Dunne

Tina has been strongly involved with politics in DuPage since the 2016 cycle. In 2016, she worked with Bernie’s Northern IL Group and then moved on to Hillary for America after the primary. After the 2016 General, she became involved with the DuPage Dems on a number of action teams, PR & Graphics, Election Protection and Gala Planning, as well as transitioning from Election Judge to Precinct Committeeperson. In the 2018 cycle, in addition to working for a number of candidates and working her precinct for all democratic candidates, Tina was a field organizer for Senator Tom Cullerton over Wayne Township and a part of Cook County.

In 2019, Tina ran a great race for Trustee in Lombard, and even though she didn’t win in the 2019 cycle, Tina has a bright future ahead, and we look forward to any future endeavors she decides to take. In addition to political work in DuPage, Tina has done a lot of volunteer work with the DuPage Forest Preserve, gained her master naturalist through the University of Illinois extension and worked with the Sierra Club Illinois chapter, Audubon Society, Nature Conservancy and Show Leopard Foundation. With more than two-dozen well-qualified Democrats running for our party’s presidential nomination, Illinois could be one of the deciding states in who takes on Donald Trump in 2020. It’s been a long time since Illinois was so critical in the presidential Primary contest.

So, who is your preferred candidate? Who would you choose as a running mate? If you could help get that candidate support in an online poll that gets media attention, would you share and promote it?

The Illinois Democratic County Chairs’ Association has a live poll right now asking Democrats who they support, and you need to participate.

Just go to www.ildcca.org/pol l to select the candidate you think is best for the Democratic nomination. It’s simple. It takes two minutes. And, it’s a great way to get some early momentum building for the 2020 election.

Then, share the poll with your friends, family and fellow Democrats.
