Senator Duckworth, along with many speakers, was proud of the Biden Administration for passing the PACT Act and noted the need for further expansion. The PACT Act delivers care for Veterans who have suffered toxic exposure. Jessica Motsinger recounted her and her family’s military service and the toxic exposures. Generations in her family have been affected and the Biden Administration addressed some of the significant issues. U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, a former Navy officer, called the signing of the PACT Act one of the most important achievements for veterans.
Secretary Buttigieg talked of the trust our military men and women bestow in each other: trusting each other with their lives. Veterans understand the concept of selflessness, which a 5-time draft dodger is incapable of understanding as he has repeatedly shown. That is why veterans recognize that a Democratic administration will continue to fight for the veterans. Veterans know that Tim Walz, as our future Vice President, will bring to the White House the perspective of a veteran, and the ability to be a strong partner to the President when American men and women are called upon to stand in harm’s way.
Senator Duckworth spoke of the difficulties of fighting the war in Iraq waiting for vehicles to “up-armor” and Ruben Gallego’s reply to the need: “got it.” Gallego, a former Marine & current U.S. Congressman, is now running for Senate in Arizona against extremist Kari Lake. He spoke of his service and why it is important to support the Democratic candidates. As Senator Duckworth tossed out some spicy language, between the laughs, you could feel the camaraderie and capability of the veterans in the room. |
