Highlight District 6

Candidate Spotlight!

DuPage County is divided into 6 districts for purposes of electing representatives for our county government. There are 3 members of the DuPage County Board for each district (a total of 18 plus Chair, Deb Conroy). At the County Board level, usually there are only 1 or 2 seats open in each district each election cycle. There is 1 member of the DuPage County Forest Preserve for each district (a total of 6, plus President Dan Hebreard), and usually only 3 of the seats are open each election cycle. The County Board and Forest Preserve roles are paid positions, intended to be part-time roles, though our elected officials often commit much more time to the job.

Very few people know what district they live in, but we're here to teach you! Today the spotlight is on DuPage County District 6 Democrats.

County Board District 6 includes Winfield, Wayne, Warrenville, Carol Stream and small parts of other towns, such as Hanover Park, Bartlett and Bloomindale. Here's a map!

When we talk about economic growth in DuPage, the businesses opening in DuPage are often finding District 6 a good place to be. There is closeness to O'Hare and there is space to grow.

In his current term on the County Board, Greg is Chair of the Health and Human Services Committee. He also Chairs the Emergency Telephone System Board. He serves on many other County Board committees. He has implemented the DuPage 211 crisis number and obtained new phone equipment for police and firefighters in the ETSB. His commitment to public safety includes increasing the Sheriff's budget as requested and obtaining new camera vests for sheriff's personnel. He also serves on the Heroin/Opioid Prevention and Education (HOPE) task force to fight drug addiction in DuPage. Reliable and committed to our residents, Greg Schwarze deserves your vote for re-election.

Rick Gieser is the Democratic candidate for Forest Preserve Commissioner in DuPage District 6.

Rick is a communications professional and has served as a volunteer Trustee on the Carol Stream village board for many years. Rick has been actively engaged in his community, recently being honored with his wife Kim, for their decades of service organizing the Carol Stream July 4th parade.

Rick is a strong advocate for the forest preserves, recognizing that our residents benefit from the availability of the open spaces and recreation available to them. He and Kim have been to every forest preserve location in DuPage. One of his top priorities is to make DuPage residents more aware of what is available to them at our forest preserves. As we learn more about the benefits of disconnecting from electronics and finding ways to re-connect with each other and nature, there's no doubt Rick is an ideal person to serve as a Forest Preserve Commissioner.

Greg and Rich are doing great work is District 6, let's see them continue!
