As you have surely seen in recent reports, domestic violence and mass-violence seem to have similar roots. Family Shelter Services is an important part of breaking this horrible link. They are expanding their services as the need for them, sadly, grows and we, at DPDC, are helping them do that. Below is part of an email they sent out last week.
Please check their wish list below the email.
Last week Family Shelter Service opened our Downers Grove Shelter doors to our Friends andFamily for a very special one time opportunity to preview the newly completed renovation.
EVERY NEW BED COULD MEAN THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LIFE AND DEATH.
Lauren DeSimone, Director ofAdvancement, welcomed guests and explained how we were able to add 12 new beds to our existing floor plan.
The path to a new life. FamilyShelter Service is enabling more people in our community to escape from the violence in their homes.
Two brand new beds with pull out trundles in the newly added downstairs bedroom is perfect for a small family, or the occasional male client.
Thank you to all our guests for coming to support Family Shelter Service!
