Texas Democrats Arrive at DuPage Democrats HQ

We were honored to be the first stop as Texas Democrats arrived in Illinois

Hi Fellow Democrats, Sunday evening, more than 30 Texas House Democrats flew from Austin to Illinois and immediately headed to the DuPage County Democratic Headquarters along with Governor JB Pritzker. The lawmakers fled Texas to prevent the Texas legislature from having the quorum required to enact Donald Trump’s plan to defy voters and gerrymander five additional Republican House seats. I was honored to offer our “BluePage HQ” for last night’s national news conference where the Texas lawmakers and Gov. Pritzker showed the Democrats are fighting back with everything we’ve got. Representative Barbara Gervin-Hawkins, Vice Chair of the Texas Black Caucus told the press as she arrived, “I’m not afraid, and I’m prepared” to stay for as long as it takes.  Several Texas lawmakers said that arriving at a local Democratic office with supportive signs covering the windows and walls felt comforting and reminded them that they’re not alone in this fight. But Democratic offices are more than just safe havens — they are where we make protest signs, organize volunteers and build the grassroots power to resist tyranny.  It costs $2,500 per month to keep our BluePage HQ open.
