Last week I talked with Patti Vasquez about the Texas legislators, redistricting, and how people can get involved.
This past Friday morning, media reported that DHS Secretary Kristi Noem (aka. ICE Barbie) was going to hold a press conference at the HSI/ICE field office in Lombard. Immigrant Rights groups including the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights (ICIRR) had learned about the appearance the night before and bravely planned a small protest. Allies from across DuPage, including DPDC, learned of the protest that morning on social media and headed directly there to stand in solidarity. The protests were peaceful and received wide coverage by the media. Several outlets included excerpts from the press statement we issued immediately following the protest.

We have suffered a might loss in our DuPage Democratic community. Here is a message from Naperville Township Democrats' Chair, Gautam Bhatia, in memory of Constance Merritt:
I am deeply saddened to share the sudden passing of Constance Merritt. As the former Secretary & Vice-Chair of the Naperville Township Democrats, Constance made a huge impact in our community. Constance was a devoted volunteer whose kindness, compassion and tireless service touched many lives. Her dedication and warm spirit made a lasting impact on everyone she met. Constance’s legacy of giving will continue to inspire us all. We plan to honor Constance’s legacy at the next NTD meeting on Thu Aug 28th at 7pm at the Naperville Municipal Center. I encourage everyone to attend and share their memories about Constance. Constance was a friend to me and will be greatly missed and remembered always.
