DuPage County News You Can Use

Democratic Party of DuPage County

Weekly Newsletter

A Word from Chair Reid McCollum

Last Tuesday, our Democratic township candidates in DuPage County won ALL 49 of the contested races! And most candidates who share our values prevailed in the nonpartisan races, as well. While we had a huge advantage with mail-in ballots, that only played ANY role in 17% of our victories. We received more votes from those who cast their ballots on Election Day in 83% of the contested races. In other words, voters preferred our candidates and our values – this wasn't just about voting being more convenient for Democratic voters who have embraced mail-in voting. On April 5, "Hands Off" protests nationwide showed that the resistance to Trump and Musk is bottom-up and growing (though Sen. Cory Booker's 25-hr speech was a great sign from our elected leaders in DC). We co-sponsored a mass mobilization at the Tesla in Lisle along with several grassroots groups, and more than 2,500 people showed up! Almost half of those who signed up with us are new to our email list (welcome, and thank you for being engaged).

We'll continue to spotlight and uplift protests in the coming days, weeks and months. We will also provide other ways that volunteers can get involved with us. I'm excited to share more on those opportunities very soon!
