May Day and Hands Across Chicagoland

Democratic Party of DuPage County

A Word from Chair Reid McCollum

Tomorrow, Thursday, May 1 is International Workers' Day: May Day! Join events in Chicago, Aurora and elsewhere to honor the struggles over generations for workers' rights and the achievements of the labor movement. Last night I was interviewed by ABC 7 for their 10pm news coverage of Trump's historically disastrous first 100 days in office. So far Trump has destabilized the economy, increased prices while killing small businesses with his tariff taxes, ignored the US Constitution and the courts, and threatened to send US citizens to inhuman foreign prisons without due process. Meanwhile, the GOP budget plan would force huge cuts to Medicaid while passing enormous tax cuts to billionaires and corporations.

Hands Across Chicagoland: Join tens of thousands of your fellow Chicago-area citizens on Sunday, May 18 from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM as we form a human chain of conscience across Chicagoland in peaceful protest against Trump’s illegal and authoritarian actions and the GOP's failure to defend the Constitution.

We will line sidewalks along 30 miles from Aurora to Chicago along Ogden Ave, 26th Street and California Ave to Douglass Park. This is a peaceful protest. We will not block streets or businesses along the route.

Bring signs, wear black, and make some noise!

EVENT SAFETY MARSHALL TRAINING - APRIL 30

On Wednesday, April 30th at 6PM Indivisible Chicago and Indivisible Westside are hosting this training for new and experienced marshals. We will review the basics of serving as a safety marshal at a rally, march or other action, and spend most of our time together reviewing our responses to various scenarios that we could face. This is an opportunity to learn together and to build a team.
