I have been a circuit judge (elected as a Democrat) for the last 13 years, and the ethical rules governing judges limit my ability to engage in political activity. However, those rules permitted me to walk in several parades in 2022 for Justice Mary K. O'Brien and Will County Judge Jessica Colon-Sayer, and so I did that. I have also donated to dozens of democrats running for office, and I attend a variety of events hosted by Democrats. And, of course, I vote in Democratic primaries. Even though it was more than six years ago, I would also like to point out that I was an elected Democratic PC from 2004 through (approximately) 2009. I had to resign as a PC when I ran for judge due to the ethical rules governing judges. I was also a member (elected as a Democrat) of the Will County Board from 2004 through 2010.

Again, as a judge, my ability to engage in political activity is limited. However, I have attended many, many democratic candidate fundraisers and I have donated significant money to democratic candidates. I have also attended events promoting reproductive rights, worker's rights, and voting rights. I support DPDC by attending their events and by donating.
Tell us, in your own words, why you should be supported by the Democratic Party and Democratic Voters of DuPage County.
Voters should support me because the Democratic values we share are under attack. In many states, courts are being used to undermine rights we once thought were carved in stone. This includes voting rights, reproductive rights, the right to love and marry the person of our choosing, and the right to read the books we want to read. If I am elected, I will continue to protect these rights under Illinois law.
Additionally, I am the only active judge in the state of Illinois with an advanced law degree in judicial studies from Duke Law School, and I was named the Judicial Officer of the Year by the Illinois State Crime Commission.
Have you voted for or supported any Republican candidates (in any way including financially) in the past 6 years? If so, explain and identify the circumstances of such votes or support.
No
If currently elected, can you explain how your voting record or actions as an elected official consistently supports your Democratic values. If not currently elected, how will you ensure you bring your Democratic values to the office you seek?
As a judge, I support Democratic values by ensuring that all people are treated equally under the law, are given due process, and seeing that their individual rights are respected under Illinois law. I make decisions that I believe in my heart to be fair, just, and consistent with the law. I also work to make sure that all litigants have equal access to justice regardless of their personal wealth or resources. | | Jennifer Barron - Circuit Court Judge Subcircuit 2 Explain your history and activities with the Democratic party, preferably local Democrats, within the past 6 years. The most important things in a judge are that she be qualified and that she reflect Democratic values on the bench. I am the only candidate in my race that has these two qualities. I am by far the most qualified candidate for judge in subcircuit 2. I tried multiple cases in front of juries as a trial lawyer for 10 years. After that, I argued cases before the appellate courts and the Illinois Supreme Court as an appellate lawyer for 15 years. I am unreservedly pro choice, pro LGBTQ plus, pro gun safety. Rights are rights and love is love and everyone should be treated the same under the law. I also bring diversity to the court as the first Jewish judge ever appointed in DuPage County.

My history and activities is much more lengthy and extensive than 6 years. I have been involved with the Democratic Party since the early 1970's. I have volunteered for numerous candidates and campaigns. I have stuffed thousands of lit bags. Walked hundreds of thousands of steps knocking on doors and talking to countless voters. I have been both an elected and appointed Democratic PC since 2003. At one point, I was elected to my precinct, LOOPed to a second precinct and "adopted" a third. All three were the "bluest" precincts in Wayne Township. I am also the former Chair of the Wayne Township Democratic Organization. Toward the end of my tenure, Wayne Township had the highest number of PC's. In 2017 I became a Notary. I am still a Notary today, primarily to help candidates get on the ballot. In 2016 I ran for State Rep. against Jean Ives when no one else would step-up. I wholeheartedly disagreed with what she stood for and truly believed Democrats should have a choice. I ran for State House again, in 2018, against Amy Grant because I believed the district needed better representation. In 2020 I ran for DuPage County Recorder. I made history by becoming the first Demarcate to win the DuPage County Recorders Office. In the 2020 race, I had the highest vote count of all county-wide contested races.

As your County Recorder, I do not allow politics to enter in to the everyday operations of my office. My office is A-political. I record documents for everyone, regardless of their political stripe. That is how it must remain. My personal beliefs are fully aligned with the Democratic Party. However, my beliefs cannot, must not, enter into the operations of the Recorder's Office. | | LIZ CHAPLIN - Recorder Explain your history and activities with the Democratic party, preferably local Democrats, within the past 6 years. For example, have you volunteered for any candidates or were you elected or appointed as a Democratic PC. (This can include your primary voting record, offices held, Democratic Endorsements, etc.)
My commitment to the DuPage Democratic Party spans over two decades, reflecting a deep-rooted dedication to advancing our shared values. Originating in the early 2000s when my family and neighbors faced water safety concerns, my journey with the party has been characterized by active engagement and progressive leadership.
I proudly served as a Democratic precinct committeeperson in Lisle Township, subsequently being elected Vice-chair of both Lisle Township Democratic Organization and the Democratic Party of DuPage County. Stepping up as Chair after Bob Pieckert's resignation, I orchestrated the 2019 convention to elect a new county chair. In 2006, I ran for the county board as a Democrat, laying the foundation for continuous involvement despite the outcome.
Financially supporting the DuPage Democratic Party, Democratic candidates, attending galas and holiday parties, and contributing to program book ads are among the various ways I've bolstered our cause. In 2012, following commendable service on the DuPage Water Commission, I heeded Bob Pieckert's call for another county board run, achieving success and securing subsequent re-elections in 2016, 2018, and 2022.
My influence extends beyond individual victories; I've actively supported and recruited numerous elected officials. Serving as the lone Democrat elected at the county level in 2018, I endorsed and collaborated closely with candidates like Sean Casten and Linda Davenport, contributing not just endorsements but active participation in door-knocking, fundraisers, and campaign support.
In 2018, I recruited Mary Ozog and Dawn DeSart. The coordinated campaigns of 2018, where I partnered with Mary Ozog, Dawn DeSart, and Julie Renehan, showcased our unified message and strategic approach. In 2020, I recruited and supported Paula Deacon Garcia for County Board, Bill White for County Auditor and helped Candice Adams, demonstrating my commitment to party candidates at all levels.
In 2022, I prioritized party unity by stepping aside from my county chair run to support Deb Conroy. My efforts included organizing campaign events, participating in parades, and contributing both time and financial resources. Currently, I continue my involvement by endorsing numerous judge candidates, actively participating in signature collection, and attending fundraisers.
I have consistently supported Democratic Township candidates by endorsing the Downers Grove and York Township slated teams and supporting officials such as Martin McManamon since the beginning.
My multi-faceted involvement, ranging from grassroots efforts to strategic leadership, underscores my dedication to the DuPage Democratic Party's continued success.
Give us specific examples of your work over the past 6 years that demonstrate your concrete application and support of Democratic principles ie. worker’s rights, equity and inclusion, diversity, voting rights, reproductive rights, reasonable gun and safety protections.
Over the past several years, my dedication to workers' rights has been consistently recognized through endorsements from reputable organizations such as AFSME, IBEW Local 701, Operating Engineers Local 150, Painters District Local 30, Bricklayer and Allied Craftworkers, Distributed Council 1, Laborers Local 68 and many other labor unions. These endorsements underscore my unwavering commitment to advocating for the rights and well-being of workers within our community. I stood in picket lines, in the rain, with the late Bill Habel and union members to protest Governor Rauner’s anti-labor Turn Around Agenda.
In 2022, working collaboratively with Members DeSart and Ozog, we took a proactive approach to ensure that a $2 million contract for painting water towers was awarded to a union contractor. This effort prioritized local labor, keeping our tax dollars within the county while ensuring high-quality workmanship. By championing this initiative, we not only supported workers' rights but also contributed to the economic vitality of our community.
I believe that my membership to organizations such as the NAACP and ACLU serves as a tangible demonstration of my steadfast commitment to equity and inclusion. In 2020, at the height of the George Floyd murder, I actively advocated for workshops addressing implicit bias and systemic racism for the county board. Despite my advocacy, the chairman refused to hold them. Given the current surge in racism at the national and local levels, I recognized the pressing need for impactful workshop meetings for both board members and key staff. These workshops would have provided a platform for fostering dialogue, education, and reflection, contributing to a deeper understanding of these issues.
It was my honor to sponsor the inaugural proclamation recognizing April as Sikh Awareness and Appreciation Month. Initiatives like this offer valuable opportunities to explore diverse cultures, foster understanding, and build bridges within our community. Additionally, I have actively participated in various PRIDE events, including the Aurora PRIDE Parade, and volunteered with Naper Pride, demonstrating my commitment to supporting and celebrating LGBTQ+ communities. Engaging in numerous interfaith events, particularly at the Islamic Foundation in Villa Park, has allowed me to promote dialogue and mutual respect among different faith communities. Furthermore, my involvement with Unity Partners underscores my dedication to building positive relationships between law enforcement and the community. These experiences collectively reflect my ongoing efforts to create a more inclusive and interconnected community for all.
My longstanding membership with the Downers Grove League of Women Voters reflects my dedication to ensuring accessible voting practices. Serving as a county board member, I have actively worked to guarantee that voters in DuPage have easy access to the voting process. As a dedicated poll watcher, I've played an important role in upholding the integrity of the electoral process by ensuring that voters and election judges adhere to the stipulated rules.
In 2021, with voter rights under attack, I was honored to work with leadership of the DuPage NAACP to arrange plans for the John Lewis Voter Advancement Day Votercade to stop at the DuPage County campus.
In 2019, I took a significant step by voting for the acquisition of 1000 electronic poll books, replacing aging devices. This forward-looking decision ensured a smooth operations during the 2020 primary and general elections. Supporting DuPage County Clerk Jean Kaczmarek, whose priority is to provide every eligible voter in DuPage County with the opportunity to vote, has been a source of pride for me.
I am particularly pleased to have supported the implementation of state-of-the-art Verity machines, making DuPage County the first in Illinois to use complete on-demand ballot printing for both Early Voting and Election Day voting. This upgrade represents not only the most secure, transparent, and user-friendly voting system but also a commitment to equal voting experiences for all. The new system eliminates variations in ballot size or shape for voters with disabilities, ensuring that everyone can use a fully accessible ballot marking device, resulting in a ballot identical to others. This initiative embodies the principle of treating every voter equally, fostering inclusivity and fairness in our electoral process.
As a member of the Nation Organization for Women (NOW) and endorsing and actively working for candidates who prioritize women's health and advocate for reproductive freedoms, I proudly demonstrate my commitment to women's rights. I have actively demonstrated at abortion clinics, standing in support of a woman's right to choose. This direct involvement underscores my commitment to championing the rights and autonomy of women in matters of reproductive health. I believe in fostering a society where every woman has the agency to make decisions about her own body, and I will continue to actively advocate for policies and candidates that uphold these fundamental rights.
In 2022, I proudly earned the designation of Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate. I have been a vocal advocate for stricter gun safety measures, speaking at numerous gun violence rallies to promote awareness and action. Actively engaging in discussions, I supported candidates who share a commitment to responsible gun ownership and comprehensive safety measures.
Participating in forums, endorsing, and providing financial support to candidates who prioritize sensible gun control policies, I sought to contribute to the creation of a safer community. My dedication to this cause extends beyond words, reflecting a tangible commitment to supporting policies and candidates that prioritize the well-being and safety of our community members. I will continue to actively work towards fostering a safer environment for all.

As the sole Democrat on the county board for a period, and serving in the minority for many years, I have been the steadfast advocate for our Democratic values. During my tenure, I often found myself as the lone voice on the board championing progressive ideals.
I proudly supported key Democratic initiatives, including the push for a progressive income tax, advocacy for bail and bond reform, championing gun safety legislation, and advocating for Juneteenth to be a county Holiday.
Additionally, I stood firm on environmental justice issues, opposing the Trump administration's rollback of the Obama-era clean water regulations. I actively supported measures that placed limits on polluting chemicals near streams, wetlands, and other bodies of water, contributing to the protection of our environment.
I advocated for generous raises while holding the line on benefit premiums.
My voting record stands out as one of the most progressive among Democrats on the board reflecting my commitment to advancing Democratic principles and policies. My exceptional attendance at meetings further earns me the distinction of having one of the highest voting records across both party lines.

I am an elected Trustee in the Village of Carol Stream. I led the passage of a Pride Proclamation. And an annual Pride concert has been added. We have reaffirmed this proclamation for 5 year...2024 will be the 6th year. I advocate and support green initiatives in the Village, including native plantings, shoreline erosion work along the Klein Creek, increased recycling, use of LED street lights, pollinator gardens and more. | | Joe Hettel - Appellate Court, 3rd Dis - Lytton Vacancy Explain your history and activities with the Democratic party, preferably local Democrats, within the past 6 years. I have voted in every democratic primary since I graduate law school (approximately 30 of my 56 years). I have run for office four times, always as a democrat.
Give us specific examples of your work over the past 6 years that demonstrate your concrete application and support of Democratic principles ie. worker’s rights, equity and inclusion, diversity, voting rights, reproductive rights, reasonable gun and safety protections.
I have been either a Circuit Judge or Appellate Court Justice over the last six years. As a judge I have been limited in my partisan pursuits. I voted for the worker's rights amendment. I have received training on implicit bias on a regular basis. I am on the Board of Directors of the Illinois Judge's Association and the Illinois Judge's Foundation. Both organizations work to promote equity, inclusion and diversity. I have also donated to Personal Pac and attended their events.
What is your relationship with the Democratic Party of DuPage County or any of its subsidiaries?
For the last 18 months I have attended at least 100 meeting or events.
Tell us, in your own words, why you should be supported by the Democratic Party and Democratic Voters of DuPage County.
I believe I am the best of two candidates. I have been a judge for 17 years including the last year and a half on the Appellate Court. It has been 24 years since I have run in a contested election, but I think it is fair to say that it is similar to riding a bike. The lessons I learned in 2000 haven’t changed they’ve just been sent to an I-Phone. The Democratic values I learned as a child many decades ago ring true today and I think they have improved. The party is much more inclusive than when I went on the bench. While working families are still the backbone of the party, the unification of many constituencies will be the key to success in ’24. I am the type of person who brings people together.
Shortly after I was elected LaSalle County State’s Attorney, I was elected to the Board of Governors of the Office of the State’s Attorneys Appellate Prosecutor. Of the 21 State’s Attorneys in the former 3rd district, I was one of two chosen to represent their interest. As a trial judge, I was made the presiding judge of our civil division. The Illinois Supreme Court has twice appointed me to fill judicial vacancies, and has appointed me to the Illinois Court’s Commission and the Supreme Court Committee on Evidence. The Illinois Conference of Chief Judges asked me to serve as a New Judge Mentor and a Facilitator of Judicial evaluations, both of which I have done for at least the last 10 years.
The people that best know my abilities to serve the judiciary believe in me. They have chosen me to oversee the application of the law and the development of those who will administer it.

I have been active in the DuPage Democrats since moving here in 1995. Since then, I have been available to notarize nominating petitions. Usually in the early 2000s, I would be called at 10pm on Sunday before the last day to file nominating petitions to notarize a candidate’s package. I never said no. Since then, I have helped numerous candidates reviewing their nominating petitions, helping more democrats become a notary and represent candidates when they are objected to. Just a few of the many I represented, Kim Savage to be a COD trustee, Daniel Hebreard to become the President of the Forest Preserve of DuPage County, Ginger Kearney Allison Pinkett-Floyd and Kristin Aasmundstad Walsh to become a Trustees of the Helen Plum library. I also, for free, Judith Lucas in defending her so that she could be on the ballot, which she won. I have reviewed hundreds of nominating packages, including Kara Casten, Tina Tyson-Dunne. When someone from a democratic Congressman to a pc, needed help with a legal matter I would help. When Congressman Bill Foster needed to be brought up to speed on the numerous unemployment laws being drafted during Covid, I was available 24/7.
When Judge Linda Davenport needed an office to run her first political run for Judge, I offered my office for free. She used it as her campaign headquarters. When candidates wanted to put their sign up on my property in Wheaton, they all knew the answer. Yes!
My office and all the resources were used for the vote chasing in 2018 to help every candidate that was close in their election. I would hand out the keys to my office to any democrat that wanted to use it.
Not only have I been a union member, and proud of it, but I rose to union steward. I would represent union members in their grievance against management. I volunteered to give free legal help to those that needed it. When the immigration crisis hit Chicago because of Trump, my office was on the front line offering free legal help to those that arrived at O’Hare and needed immediate help.
When I was asked to be the parliamentarian for the Democratic Party of DuPage County, I said yes. I held that position until I won as a precinct Committee person. You cannot be on the DCDO Board and be a PC.
I have always supported democratic candidates, and democratic organizations.our work over the past 6 years that demonstrate your concrete application and support of Democratic principles ie. worker’s rights, equity and inclusion, diversity, voting rights, reproductive rights, reasonable gun and safety protections.
I clearly believe that the Democratic principles need to be protected. For me, this was instilled by my parents, and has been ongoing and will continue. All of the principles laid out in question above are incredibly important to me.
I was a union member and a union steward making sure that the workers in my union had someone that would stand up for them. Every employee I represented won the union grievance. Three of my kids were union members. When the immigration problems broke out because of Trump, my office was at O'Hare offering free legal assistance to the immigrants needing it. I consistently volunteer my time for those that cannot afford legal help. I have participated in events and marches supporting women's rights and stood next to Bill Foster and was one of the few speakers at Downers Grove High School where students organized a march against gun violence. I created new case law in Federal Court that protected women against violence in the workplace. This eventually became a statute protecting women against violence. I was part of a task force working to make diabetes drugs more available to those in Illinois which was successful. I volunteer and am appointed by the Courts to represent those that cannot afford to be represented.

As the Coroner I plan educate the children in DuPage about mental health and drugs. The current work environment for the union members working in the Coroner's office is dismal. I plan to make the work environment a substantially better place to work. I will also make the Coroner's office more transparent to the citizens.
The coroner position is a law enforcement position. Pursuant to 55 ILCS 5/3-3007, "Conservator of the peace. Each coroner shall be conservator of the peace in his county, and, in the performance of his duties as such, shall have the same powers as the sheriff." Despite the tv and movies, the Coroners in Illinois are not a medical position. In fact, of all the counties only one is a doctor. A coroner can bring an inquisition. An inquisition is just like a criminal trial with 6 jurors who determine who killed the deceased.
The coroner's office has numerous deputy sheriffs that do investigations. In addition, if the State's Attorney is unable to be in office, the Coroner takes over the role as State's Attorney. Pursuant to Illinois Law, the best person to run the Coroner's office is someone with extensive legal experience and management. I am the only candidate with legal and management experience.

I’m running for re-election for my third term on the DuPage County Board. I’ve been an elected PC for several consecutive terms, and am up for re-election for that, too. I was selected to the Illinois Women’s Institute of Leadership (IWIL) Class of 2020. I’ve been/am endorsed multiple times by Senators Durbin and Duckworth, Congressman Casten, Chairwoman Conroy, multiple unions including Local 150, Laborers Local 68, and my own union—the Chicago Federation of Musicians; DuPage NOW (National Organization of Women); the DPDC; the Daily Herald; and many more. I have always voted Democratic since I was eligible to vote. I have never pulled a Republican ballot.

have been extremely active as a candidate and working on Democratic causes and reviving training from multiple Democratic organizations since 2016. Before that, I volunteered on campaigns (Hillary Clinton, Tammy Duckworth, Barack Obama) by canvassing, postcard writing, phone banking and text banking. I have served as an elected Democratic official for two terms championing and upholding Democratic principles and values. I am involved in my Union, fighting for equity and workers rights. I sit in the Collective Bargaining Committee and served as the vice-chair. I chair Community Development Committee for two terms, and under my chairmanship we passed the first vote to Fund the first ever permanent homeless shelter in DuPage County. I sit on the DEI committee and Chair the Economic Development Committee as well. I have been fighting for gun violence prevention for decades, writing on this topic for Huffington Post and other platforms, receiving training on GVP training on the national level, serving as a community organizer on this topic, and advocating tirelessly for common sense gun laws. I have helped others run for office, attend fundraisers, recruit new members and help support other candidates. I volunteer at the county jail, working with inmates and playing my violin for them as part of the efforts at rehabilitation for the incarcerated. I am and always have been pro-choice, period, full stop.

I am well qualified for the position as coroner. As a Registered Nurse, I am trained in evidence-based problem solving, data analysis, critical thinking and working with law enforcement officials on investigations. I have applied this knowledge in real-world settings. My eight years as a home health nurse gave intimate insights into the community and their needs. I have compassion and build quick relationships with families in good times and times of grief. I volunteer my vacation time to actively give back to my community including serving as a Registered Nurse with Special Camps, a camp for people with intellectual disabilities. As a nurse, I never asked a patient who they voted for or their ability to pay, but instead gave everyone the same quality, skilled, compassionate care. As coroner, I vow to do the same.

By putting people first, I actively work to fight discrimination. As a Winfield Township Trustee, I spearheaded the mission to expand the territory for senior buses and eliminate the copay. My lifelong commitment to Democratic values and principles, deeply ingrained in me by my upbringing in a Democratic union household, underscores my candidacy for endorsement by the Democratic Party as a judge. Over the past two decades, my dedication to the party's ideals has been unwavering. I engaged with Democratic politics early, joining the College Dems and actively supporting candidates such as Al Gore and Joyce Beatty. I was a page for the Senate Democratic Caucus of Ohio, gaining invaluable insights into how Democrats lead. In college, I founded an organization advocating for education equality and mobilized students to participate in the March on Washington to support Affirmative Action. My involvement continued through law school, where I worked on the Obama Senate campaign and served as an election attorney for Tammy Duckworth. Although my direct political involvement temporarily slowed upon becoming a practicing lawyer in DuPage, I remained dedicated to Democratic causes, channeling my energy into supporting candidates in red states. I've also actively contributed to local campaigns and openly endorsed Democratic candidates, even in the face of resistance. My commitment to the party led to a unanimous appointment to the 18th Judicial Circuit, recommended by Justice Mary K. O'Brien, further affirming my alignment with Democratic values and my readiness to serve as a judge committed to fairness, equality, and justice.
I believe the Democratic Party should endorse me as a judge because my career has been defined by a steadfast commitment to the principles of justice, equality, and fairness that the party upholds. Throughout my legal journey, I have consistently advocated for the rights of the marginalized and underrepresented, actively promoting social justice and inclusivity. My extensive experience in the legal field has allowed me to develop a deep understanding of the intricacies of the law and the importance of impartiality. I firmly believe in protecting civil rights, addressing systemic inequalities, and ensuring access to justice for all. By endorsing me as a judge, the Democratic Party can rely on my dedication to upholding the rule of law and advancing progressive values, ensuring that our legal system remains fair and just for all citizens.
Have you voted for or supported any Republican candidates (in any way including financially) in the past 6 years? If so, explain and identify the circumstances of such votes or support.
Neither I nor my spouse have ever donated money to a Republican candidate.
Before 2022, I reluctantly cast votes in Republican primaries during my time in private practice in DuPage County. A pragmatic consideration drove this decision: I was contemplating applying for the role of Associate Judge, which, at that time, was under Republican control. However, this choice to participate in Republican primaries in no way diminished my dedication to Democratic values. It motivated me to become an active campaigner for Democratic judges in 2018, 2020, and 2022. I recognized the urgency of reshaping the judicial landscape to ensure that quality Democrats like myself would no longer have to compromise their livelihoods and prospects by aligning with a party that did not reflect their values. I am fully committed to championing Democratic ideals and determined to bring about positive change within the judicial system.
If currently elected, can you explain how your voting record or actions as an elected official consistently supports your Democratic values. If not currently elected, how will you ensure you bring your Democratic values to the office you seek?
As a Juvenile Court Judge hearing juvenile justice and child welfare cases, I bring Democratic values to the bench and have a long track record of protecting the rights of children and families from marginalized communities. The best interest of the child requires allowing them to access comprehensive healthcare options, including reproductive care and gender-affirming care.
I am passionate about using restorative justice approaches over punitive measures for juveniles still developing social-emotional and interpersonal skills. I promote diversion programs, particularly for non-violent offenders, and focus on alternative sentencing options like counseling, education, community service, and vocational training to address the underlying causes of the behaviors.
I am committed to reducing the overrepresentation of marginalized communities in the child welfare system. I advocate for a holistic approach beyond simply removing children from dangerous situations. We must invest in comprehensive family support systems, providing access to high-quality healthcare, mental health services, substance abuse treatment, and educational opportunities. My Democratic values mean we must actively work to dismantle systemic biases and ensure that every child and family is treated with dignity and respect, regardless of their background or socioeconomic status. | Leah Setzen - Circuit Court Judge Subcircuit 3 Explain your history and activities with the Democratic party, preferably local Democrats, within the past 6 years. It is also important to note that my appointment as Circuit Court Judge was made by Illinois Supreme Court Democratic Justice Mary Kay O'Brien, and by unanimous vote of the Illinois Supreme Court. The appointment process involved an open invitation to attorneys in the subcircuit to apply, a lengthy interview with numerous Democratic elected officials and volunteers, and a rigorous vetting process.
In addition, I have supported several Democratic local candidates over the last several years. I supported Linda Davenport in her campaign for Circuit Court Judge in 2018, not only by attending and financially supporting her campaign (through my law firm) but also by marching for her in the Naperville St. Patrick's Day Parade. I supported Benny White in his campaign for Mayor in 2023 by marching for him in the Naperville St. Patrick's Day Parade, attending campaign events and financially supporting his campaign.

I have always been a strong supporter of individual rights, whether reproductive, religious, gender identity or sexual orientation. In my practice of family law, one of my areas of focus was helping nontraditional families establish legal rights and recognition, years before state and federal laws were enacted to give equal protection under the law for all to enjoy marriage equality. I trained judges, attorneys and other professionals on the ever-evolving changes in family law over the course of my entire career, until I took the bench. I've written legal articles and taught seminars on such issues. I've attended pro-choice events and donated money to pro-choice organizations such as Personal PAC. Throughout my membership and service on the board of directors of the Naperville Area of Chamber of Commerce, I supported and participated in DEI initiatives and educational opportunities. As a practicing attorney, I addressed inequality in access to justice by volunteering my time to represent indigent individuals and by working with community organizations to provide zealous representation to survivors of domestic violence and housing insecurity at a greatly reduced rate. I have further given back to my community as a member of several not-for-profit boards and organizations, including local, unbiased news and community information provider, NCTV17.

Tell us, in your own words, why you should be supported by the Democratic Party and Democratic Voters of DuPage County.
My beliefs and values have always aligned with those of the Democratic Party, both personally and professionally. I believe in protecting individual rights and underrepresented and marginalized groups. I believe that justice and equal access to the law should be available to all, regardless of socioeconomic status. I believe in treating everyone with dignity, respect and courtesy. Most of all, I believe in lifting up others through compassion, understanding and service so that our community becomes a better place to reside for all. These are the guideposts by which I live and conduct myself professionally. These are the values Democratic voters want in their judiciary, and why they should vote for me.
Have you voted for or supported any Republican candidates (in any way including financially) in the past 6 years? If so, explain and identify the circumstances of such votes or support.
I have not individually supported any Republican candidates. When I was an attorney, my law firm encouraged its attorneys to attend fundraisers for judges before whom we appeared, regardless of political affiliation. One of the partners of the law firm co-sponsored a meet and greet for a Republican judicial candidate in the 2022 election, with other board members of the DuPage Association of Women Lawyers, and asked the attorneys to publicize the event on social media. I complied but did not attend or otherwise support the event or the candidate.
My voting record reflects that I have pulled both Democratic and Republican primary ballots. In the years in which I pulled Republican primary ballots, it was either to support judicial candidates when there were no Democratic candidates, or to vote strategically in national races to undermine Republican candidates' chances in the general election.
If currently elected, can you explain how your voting record or actions as an elected official consistently supports your Democratic values. If not currently elected, how will you ensure you bring your Democratic values to the office you seek? I am currently an appointed Circuit Court Judge. In other words, I will apply the law respectfully and compassionately, upholding the freedoms and rights of all citizens of DuPage County. Give us specific examples of your work over the past 6 years that demonstrate your concrete application and support of Democratic principles ie. worker’s rights, equity and inclusion, diversity, voting rights, reproductive rights, reasonable gun and safety protections.
I am a union member for the Illinois Education Association, Grassroots Political Activist for Region 58. During my time as a GPA, I participated in text and phone banks around Worker's Rights. I also participated in marches for reproductive rights. Additionally, I have also called my representatives when legislation comes up regarding reproductive rights and gun safety. As an educator, I sit on the DEI committee within my school district. The DEI committee looks at the school system barriers that can perpetuate inequities withing our school community. I advocate for changes to help support our students.
Current and active member in good standing of both DPDC and Wayne Township Democratic Organization. I also have a friendly/good relationship with the other eight Townships.
Tell us, in your own words, why you should be supported by the Democratic Party and Democratic Voters of DuPage County.
I feel that I should be supported by the Democratic Party because my views align with what we want the world to be. I believe that healthcare is a right. Everyone should have access to medical care regardless of their immigration status. I believe that the economy should work for everyone. People should be paid a livable wage. Our diversity is our strength and is what helps us build community.
Have you voted for or supported any Republican candidates (in any way including financially) in the past 6 years? If so, explain and identify the circumstances of such votes or support.
In the last 6 years, I have voted for only democratic candidates for President. However, when DuPage County Board District 1 had a Republican primary, I helped collect signatures for Maria Reyes who lost the primary. I also regret helping her. I helped her because she was my husband's coworker. Her views are not aligned with views I hold. I would not help in the future.
If currently elected, can you explain how your voting record or actions as an elected official consistently supports your Democratic values. If not currently elected, how will you ensure you bring your Democratic values to the office you seek?
As a candidate, it is important to show democratic values with our actions. One of my main goals is to continue to advocate for mental health support. I work as a school social worker and have witnessed firsthand how services vary in this area. We have students who are unable to connect to a therapist due to barriers such as transportation, access, and language. It is important to advocate and support changes that will help everyone in the community. This also includes looking at housing efforts in the area and food insecurity that needs to be addressed. I will fight and defend these values if elected. | | William "Bill" White - County Auditor Explain your history and activities with the Democratic party, preferably local Democrats, within the past 6 years. For example, have you volunteered for any candidates or were you elected or appointed as a Democratic PC. (This can include your primary voting record, offices held, Democratic Endorsements, etc.)
2018 - As a Village Commissioner I openly supported Sean Casten and other Democratic candidates. 2020 - Ran as a Democrat for the Office of County Auditor. Won narrowly and prevailed in a recount lawsuit. 2022 - Became the Democratic PC for DGT 017 with the support of the prior PC (Rich DeMink) who decided he wanted to step down. Rich had been my PC for a very long time. 2024 - Running for re-election as County Auditor and as PC in my new precinct, DGT 012 .

As a Forest Preserve Commissioner I voted in favor of a responsible bidder ordinance. Many of the Democratic principles are not explicit issues in my role as Commissioner, but I have supported the campaigns of Democratic candidates who ran on voting and reproductive rights and reasonable gun safety and protections as key issues. My support of local measures to address climate change in a meaningful manner are well known. Primarily, I have worked for women's rights. Equal pay for equal work. Financial independence. (Credit Cards, Loans) A women's soul right to personal health decisions. I have also been a very vocal advocate for gun safety. Additionally, fighting for Social Security and Medicare for our seniors.

As County Auditor, I do not have a vote on the County Board. Instead I am focused on working behind the scenes to better assure that County government is well run and policies and budgetary objectives are accomplished in an effective, efficient and transparent manner.
