April 10-12 A wonderful weekend of celebrating leaders who are "living their dreams" On Friday, April 10, 2015 from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm, the Democrats of DuPage County are featuring two very beautiful civil rights icons, Mrs. Naomi King -widow of civil rights leader, Rev. A.D. King, and Mrs.Cathelean Steele of Justice for Girls and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC). The event is entitled, "Living The Dream" Leadership Dinner and will be held at the Kings Banquet Hall in Lombard, Illinois with a special performance by Rhymefest -Oscar/Grammy Winner who co-wrote the song, "Glory" from the movie "Selma" (see invitation attached). Mrs. King's message focuses on a non-violence approach to conflict resolution and the path that should be taken in order to live our dreams and the dream her brother-in-law, Martin Luther King, Jr. preached about. In addition, Mrs. Steele will be highlighted for her message surrounding the importance of education as a preventative measure to such crimes as human sex trafficking as well as promoting a positive self-image. On Saturday, April 11, 2015 at noon at the Two Brothers Round House Banquet Hall in Aurora, Illinois, we are honoring, Super Business Girl, Asia Newson, with the 2015 Corporate Kid Entrepreneur Award. The event is entitled, "Entrepreneurship: A Solution to Youth Crime" with a special performance by multi-talented comedian and entertainer, Kimyung Kim (see flyer attached). Greetings!
Keep the Tea Party OUT of DuPage. The trustee election at the College of DuPage has become a partisan election with former congressman and Tea Party leader, Joe Walsh, as well as a Tea Party congressman from Indiana, Todd Rokita (see his vote-rating record here) pulling lots of strings. It has been rumored that Joe Walsh might run against Sen. Mark Kirk and now wants to re-establish himself in DuPage and the surrounding communities. He has a website with his endorsed candidates and they include the COD "Clean Slate" of Chuck Bernstein, Frank Napolitano and Deanne Mazzochi. Thousands of dollars have poured into this election and others. I do not want the Tea Party and the extreme positions of Joe Walsh back in DuPage and I bet you don't either. This so-called non-partisan election is anything but that. Because of Joe Walsh and the Tea Party influence, the DuPage GOP has, for the first time, recommended a slate for the COD board. Deanne Mazzochi is the only candidate endorsed by both the GOP and Walsh. Since she injected $50,000 of her own money, we know why Joe Walsh and Kathy Hamilton selected her. Please spread the word about Joe Walsh and make sure you vote on April 7 and EARLY if you can.
Do what you can to inform yourself and others of this important election and the need to vote out the Tea Party influence and keep Joe Walsh in radio and out of politics.
