Great work everyone! HB 3099 was pulled from committee yesterday. This means the bill was not voted on and is - for now - dead.
The environmental community responded in full force to register opposition to HB 3099: Nearly 400 witness slips were filed opposing the bill, and the bill's sponsor State Rep Conroy received many, many calls at both her Springfield and Villa Park offices from people opposing consolidating the Forest Preserve with the County.
This action was a stunning display of unity in support of the environment and you all deserve a hearty thank you! This would not have happened without your help - and that means you, personally. Because every single one of you took a few minutes to make a call, file a witness slip and forward the request for more support to your friends, we prevailed . Thank you!
Please forward this thanks to anyone that you know who helped with this effort.
In case you have a few minutes, Rep Conroy can be reached at 630-415-3520 or by email at repdebconroy@gmail.com. Leave her a message to let her know how much you appreciate her pulling HB 3099. Let her know that she did the right thing by listening to public opposition.
Then take a well-earned break: Go for a walk in one of the Forest Preserves and feel good knowing that you were instrumental in saving the integrity of our forest preserve system in DuPage.
I'll be back in touch if this issue surfaces again.
