DPDC Test Blog: No Kings, No Crowns, No Compromise

Hi Fellow Democrats,

Please plan to attend one of the many No Kings protests this Saturday, Oct. 18 across DuPage and Chicagoland (details below). And recruit a few friends who might not otherwise attend to join you! Making this one of the largest public protests in American history is a great way to fight back against the authoritarian, cruel and corrupt actions of the Trump administration.

I also encourage you to consider becoming a Precinct Committeeperson (PC). Watch this webinar we hosted with the Young Dems to learn more, or just reply to this email. PCs are elected volunteers who serve as the beating heart of our Party. Petition packets to run for PC are available here on the County website. Petition filing for PCs and all candidates is 10/27 - 11/3. Here are the notary hours at the DPDC office. PCs can return their packets to the office and we will file them on your behalf, or you can coordinate with your township Democratic organization.

Congratulations to Rep. Margaret DeLaRosa, who was appointed to the 42nd District seat on Oct 12. She replaces Terra Costa Howard, who will be sworn in as Resident Judge in the 5th Subcircuit later this week. Rep. DeLaRosa lives in Glen Ellyn. She has served on the Glenbard Township District 87 School Board since 2015 and has been president of the board since 2022. A longtime community activist, DeLaRosa was President of the Glen Ellyn League of Women Voters from 2005-2007.

Finally, I'm proud to see our Democratic leaders refuse to fund a federal government that would let tens of millions of people lose access to affordable healthcare. America has the lowest rate of uninsured people in our history. That’s 100% due to Democrats. Hundreds of thousands of federal employees are going without pay and facing hardships while thousands are being fired. Republicans control all three branches of government — they could negotiate to reopen the government or change the Senate rules and pass their budget without Democratic votes tomorrow. But that would require them to either let Americans keep their health insurance or face the consequences when people start to see their premiums double or quadruple in the coming days.
