Hi Fellow Democrats, Here's part of my press statement from this week, which was partially quoted by the Daily Herald in yesterday's paper: “Trump’s Immigration “Enforcement” is Illegal and Violates the Constitution  "Non citizens are entitled to due process, freedom of speech, and equal protection. These protections exist for all persons, because they are what separate the United States from autocracies. Without them, there is no check on a government that persecutes its enemies and disappears those who speak out against it.  The Trump Administration is sending masked agents without badges to sweep up anyone they suspect might be undocumented while military helicopters circle overhead. Trump has pardoned the January 6th insurrectionists and is weaponizing the government against his political enemies, including many Justice Department lawyers who prosecuted them.  Terrorizing immigrant communities is immoral and directly harms the US economy, but Trump was elected and has the legal authority to aggressively pursue deportations through legal means. This is not what is happening. The first eight months of Trump’s second term has been a flurry of illegality, corruption, and fascist rhetoric. The Republican Party has proven to be all too eager to go along with all of it." ### You can help circulate candidate petitions and get a list of doors in a precinct near you that doesn't have a PC. No prior training or past experience needed — we'll get you set up, and then you can knock doors anytime during the week around your schedule. For those of you already circulating petitions, we have notaries at the BluePage HQ on many Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 12-3pm, as well as Tuesday evenings from 5-8pm and Saturday mornings from 9am-12pm. Check the Notary Schedule for exact dates and times. It costs $2,500 per month to keep our BluePage HQ open. You can help by chipping in $25 to make sure we can keep it open and continue the fight to elect Democrats both in DuPage County and across the country.
