The new maps will take effect in 2024. On November 15, 2021 the governor signed Public Act 102-0668 An Act concerning elections - Election precincts except in counties having a population of 3,000,00 inhabitants or over, shall divide election districts so that each precinct district shall contain, as near as may be practicable, 1,200 registered voters.
