DPDC Weekly Newsletter - 6/22/2018

"Bob, can I say a swear word?" Puerto Rico's Mayor Speaks to the DPDC
Mayor Cruz spoke at a DPDC Gala in April of this year, thanking the DPDC for their help with Hurricane Maria, but telling the sobering tale of their (STILL) long road to recovery.
Also, check out some of the photos from the trip that DPDC's Joanne Tyree, Steve Schenk, Dan Bailey, Bob Peickert, and Bruce Beckman took to Puerto Rico. It's still really bad down there, but there are still good people getting good work done.

Tweet of the Week (there are two because we can do what we want)
Some thoughts..
Alright. It's been a tough week. We've had to reckon with the fact that we are living in a country that is committing severe human rights violations. If it feels weird to be casually talking about this or reading about it in an email, THAT'S BECAUSE IT IS.

I know we normally use this space to remind you that voting is the most important way you can help change this fun-house-mirror-world we're living in. It is still essential, but it is no longer enough.

Republican complacency with this administration's obvious hatred for minorities is getting to a breaking point. Where is the line? Probably around the point where THEY ARE PUTTING CHILDREN IN CAGES.

Call your rep, or call your friends who live in red states and districts, and tell them to support the Keep Familes Together Act.
Go to a protest.
Do something!

And as always, get ready for November. We need every Democrat we can get at the polls.
