After winning the world heavyweight championship in 1964, Muhammad Ali was an undefeated fighter at the top of his game - but the fight of his life was still ahead of him, and it would take place outside of the ring.
By refusing his draft notice in 1967, Muhammad Ali took an unyielding stance against the war in Vietnam. In doing so, he was stripped of his championship title, convicted of draft evasion, given a $10,000 fine, sentenced to five years imprisonment, and had his passport revoked, thereby denying him any chance to earn a living outside of America.
Denied a boxing license in all 50 states, it appeared that Ali’s meteoric career was about to come to a quiet close. But in 1970, a diverse group of individuals came together in Atlanta to make sure the greatest boxer on Earth received a fair fight. An ambitious white attorney turned promoter, Atlanta's first Jewish mayor, and a visionary black senator joined forces to make the impossible possible.
Ali's Comeback: The Untold Story is the epic tale about the return of the greatest athlete of the 20th Century from the shadows of the boxing ring and onto the world stage. |
