During the past few weeks former Auditor Bob Grogan, along with three other Republican candidates, filed for discovery recounts of select precincts in DuPage County. Even during the ongoing pandemic, election judges and volunteer poll watchers gathered and conducted the discovery recounts over the course of a few weeks. Ultimately, no pattern of irregularities were found and the election proved to be secure and accurate.
Despite this, Bob Grogan filed for a full recount on Christmas Eve, even asking that the County go as far as hold a new election or declare him the winner. Much like Trump and the Republicans on the national level, this suit is nothing more than an attempt to cast doubt on our elections, disenfranchise voters, and reject the results of fair and legitimate elections.
We are proud of the work done by the County Clerk and the Election Division to ensure fair and accurate elections and are confident the suit will not move forward to a full recount. We would also like to once again congratulate Bill White on his victory.
