Friend, Election Commission Budget Note, Help our Candidates this week and more...

Election Commission Budget
First, thank you to everyone who reached out to your County Board Members about properly funding the Election Commission / Clerk's Budget.

We KNOW there where changes to the Election Commission's / Clerk's Budget after Cronin's Daily Herald interview. We also KNOW that changes were in part because of those that reached out.

Second, the Election Commission is doing some much needed Infrastructure Improvements in the short-term and long-term.

In the short-term, the Clerk's office would really like to get a raise for our hard-working election judges. We want to retain and attract GOOD election judges, who play a vital role in our democracy. The other critical short-term budget requests were sufficiently addressed in the updated budget.

At the County Board meeting tomorrow, the request has been made that any/all Election Commission / Clerk Budget requests for this next budget, focus on asking for a raise for the Election Judges, even if it is only part of what the Clerk asked for, it will still help retain/attract GOOD judges.

DuPage Dems Difference Maker - Lynn Casey-Maher
In Lynn’s own words…

In 2016 I heeded Bernie Sanders call to action and started getting involved in local politics. Because as we all know, change occurs best from the bottom up. I attended activist events and did my first canvassing with Coalition for a Better Illinois Sixth and Indivisible DuPage. I was so new to everything I had to teach myself about townships, precincts, county boards, and more. I found my precinct, was appointed in the summer of 2017, and ran for the position in 2018. In 2018 I was elected Chair of Winfield Township Democratic Organization. The learning continues!

I was fortunate, as the WTDO leadership team welcomed me, and has been a huge source of support. I met many wonderful people that are PCs and volunteers in WTDO and numerous candidates during the 2018 election. As with most of us, 2018 was a flurry of canvassing, parades, and events that ended in turning DuPage blue! On the heels of that historic election I decided to run for Community High School District 94 School Board and won with the most votes. I love this because I use it as an example of how effective canvassing is! Even for a school board position.

We now have 2020 upon us and I am looking forward to supporting Democrats again, to keep DuPage blue and flip even more seats!
