Americans for Democratic Action's 2012 Convention here in
Chicago June 15-17!

 Greetings!

If you can't make it to the entire convention this weekend but would like to support ADA, there are two things you can do:

1) ADA is offering a Special Saturday session for a $75 donation. This session includes a lunch with a keynote address byLarry Cohen of the Communications Workers of America.

2) Rep. Jan Schakowsky will be joining ADA on Saturday night for a fundraiser honoring her with the NorthEastern ADA Chapter's Eleanor Roosevelt award for progressive leadership. Register today to help us honor Rep. Schakowsky.

RSVP for and see the Full Convention Schedule HERE

ABOUT ADA:

Americans for Democratic Action has a long history of fighting to preserve and expand the New Deal, the landmark investment in America. Now is the time for a New Deal 2.0. Since 2005, Workings Families Win, a project of ADA, has had organizers in key areas to help drive policy and elect representatives. In this important election year of 2012, ADA and Working Families Win are meeting not only to change the political and policy landscapes but to shift the public debate and ideology back to one that reflects shared prosperity and public action toward the common good.

Mass inequality is leading to widespread economic rage that is embodied in the Occupy protests and felt in the everyday lives of the 99%. There is a sense that the nation's policies and politicians, without regard to party, are simply not serving the common good.

Tea Party activists, Wisconsin protesters, Congressional budget negotiators, and Wall Street Occupiers have all been addressing the same fundamental questions of what the government should do and who should pay for it. Heated debate flows from the very different answers offered by different ideological perspectives. The 2012 elections will be seen as an important judgment on this ongoing philosophical argument.

There is a rare opportunity in this charged and fluid atmosphere to advance some very basic progressive ideas about community action and responsibility. ADA and Working Families Win propose a yearlong campaign centered on an "Invest in America" agenda that will make the case in a variety of creative ways for the need for wise public investment as the basis for broad-based prosperity and a more harmonious society.

Let's get on with
winning in 2012

Greetings!

I want to thank all of our elected precinct committeepersons for attending our County Convention last night. The convention was filled with emotion, enthusiasm, drama, and, most importantly, some humor.

In the end, we all agreed on a common goal of electing Democrats and supporting our President, Barack Obama. With this goal in mind, we will move quickly past our differences as we make history in November using the same enthusiasm shown at the convention. Additionally, our township elections will bring out new talent with fresh ideas. I am looking forward to working with both new and returning township leaders.

For DuPage County and for the Democratic Party of DuPage, the November 2012 election has major political implications since we are, finally, in a good position to help take back the House in Washington. Five important congressional races are in parts of DuPage. Our state elections could produce 8 state legislators from various parts of DuPage. And, we have an opportunity to add to the 3 Democrats currently on the county board. The opportunity to take seats on the Forest Preserve Commission has never been better. Two excellent candidates are vying for county-wide offices.

So, how do we get this done? We must mobilize as many Democrats as possible to assist our candidates. Please continue to watch future blasts for the many opportunities to be a part of this fantastic movement in DuPage. Find a campaign you'd like to help or call us for suggestions on how you can get involved (630-629-1125). Of course, join us on Facebook, Twitter, Blogspot and at our website www.dupagedemocrats.com.

JUMP ABOARD NOW and help us make history on November 6.

Bob Peickert, Chair, DPDC
Peickert wins third term at helm of DuPage Democrats

Elmhurst resident Bob Peickert, 67, survived a challenge to his seat and will serve a third term as chairman of the Democratic Party of DuPage County. Two hundred precinct committee representatives, each with a weighted vote, re-elected Peickert over Downers Grove Township Democratic Organization Chairwoman Kim Savage by a vote of 5,880 to 3,569 Wednesday night. "There are no losers. We won unity in this organization because I am going to work closely with Kim as I know she will with me," Peickert said. "I want to thank Kim for running. She made us all think about what we want for this organization over the next two years. That's going to be a tremendous help to us as we get Democrats elected in November and we turn this county from red to purple to eventually blue."
