What's Your Why?

Hi Fellow Democrats,

The recklessness and cruelty of Trump's illegal and violent assault on Minneapolis, which led to the murder of Renee Good, is a reminder of what's at stake as we watch our nation teeter on the brink of ethnic-nationalist authoritarianism.

Trump and his administration have attempted to portray Good and other peaceful moms in minivans who stand up to masked men terrorizing communities as domestic terrorists. That farcical lie is extremely dangerous. Despite the real risks to peacefully doing what's right, it will only get more difficult if we don't continue to stand up and speak out. Here's a beautiful tribute to Renee Good, including the full statement from her widowed wife, Becca Good.

I'm in this fight because I have two daughters, and I want them to have a future with personal freedoms, a vibrant democracy, and leaders who work to improve the lives of everyone.

It has never been more important to elect good Democratic leaders here in DuPage County. The DuPage Dems will lead the effort to rally Democratic voters to the polls this year, and we need your help.

Our annual Gala funds the entirety of our get out the vote initiatives. Please consider attending, and please help spread the word about this incredible event. We hope to sell more than 1,000 tickets – twice as many as last year.

Our Gala keynote speaker is David Hogg, who founded March for Our Lives after surviving the Parkland school shooting in 2018. David also co-founded Leaders We Deserve, which works to recruit young candidates to run in races nationwide.

The Gala is Sunday, Feb. 22 at Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace. Gala tickets are now on sale.

In Solidarity,

Reid McCollum, Chair
