THANK YOU TO ALL OF OUR TOWNSHIPS AND TO OUR FAIR COMMITTEE HEADED UP BY MARIAN AND GARY TOMLINSON FOR MAKING THE DUPAGE COUNTY FAIR ANOTHER FUN AND SUCCESSFUL EVENT!
SOMETHING'S ALWAYS HAPPENING  WITH DPDC!

Greetings!

Wow, what an amazing week last week. Despite all of the multi-faceted analysis and rhetoric flying across the wires from social media, mainstream news and everyday conversations, it really breaks down to one thing: Did we, as Democrats, attempt to put our best face forward and project intentions and plans to make our country better for the most citizens? It would be difficult, especially in comparison with the other party's presentation, to say anything but YES, we did. Yes, we did.
We all still have personal and organizational work to do to create the VERY BEST RESULTS from those promises made and WE CAN. But, we need your help.

VOLUNTEER POSITIONS WE WILL NEED TO FILL OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKS:

Volunteer Coordinator: This job is flexible and can be done largely from home or we can give you a desk in the office. Must like phone calls and connecting people with each other and campaigns.

IN-OFFICE (6:30-8:30 M-TH) Evening Coordinator(s): This would be for a person willing to donate one night a week (or every other depending on how many folks respond). Included in activities would be answering the phone, selling Hillary signs, checking in any phone bankers (others will run the phone banks), restocking and setting up light hospitality for phone banks and other events when appropriate.

DPDC Hillary Clinton Campaign Coordinator: We are not sure yet if they will have a HRC office in DuPage but it may not happen. This volunteer would receive a dupagedemocrats.com email address and all requests from the Hillary campaign would come to this person and that person would also be responsible for helping the HRC campaign put together any events or canvasses they are doing in DuPage while keeping our Executive Director and Chair in the loop.

STILL NEED ELECTION JUDGES for November 8th!!

More opportunities will come up soon and we will get them out to you!

Thanks!
Amy Rohrer
ED, DPDC

WILL HE BE THE NEXT GOVERNOR OF ILLINOIS?
On October 11th, we will host a special event featuring Chris Kennedy. Son of the late Robert Kennedy, Chris started the Chicago-based non-profit Top Box Foods. The organization was created as a way to get discounted groceries to families who live in areas that either lack grocery stores or have an abundance of fast food. Kennedy initially invested $150,000 to get Top Box started, and subsequently designed the organization to be self-sustaining. COME LEARN MORE!
We are excited to welcome any contribution of time, treasure or talent that you would like to make. Contact us at 2016@dupagedemocrats.com

Sincerely,

My FAVORITE email of the year. Celebrating summer.

Website     Get Involved     Elections     About     Blog     Contact

Greetings!

We know, it's still summer, but now is a great time to show you what's on the horizon and, at least, let you know where the outlets are when you are ready to get plugged in! SPECIAL THANKS to everyone who has stayed plugged in completely during this transitional period: volunteering for the golf outing, marching in July parades, keeping their townships moving forward and walking for or being candidates!

FOR NOW, keep enjoying the wonder of summer and plug in when and where you are ready. The election cycle is HEATING UP and there will be plenty of fun for everyone!

JULY 27-31 we will be represented handsomely at the DuPage County Fair and we hope you will stop by and say HELLO to our volunteers. IF YOU HAVE BEEN thinking about getting on board as a neighborhood organizer or volunteer, be sure and sign up on the list at the fair and get a special gift from DPDC.

THEN, ON AUGUST 21st, JOIN US FOR OUR ELECTION SEASON KICK-OFF, our Annual Picnic, this year at Greene Vally Forest Preserve. See the flyer below! PLEASE SIGN UP USING THIS POTLUCK LINK and when you write your name put the number of you coming next to it.  EX: Amy Rohrer (1)

ON AUGUST 26th, our Women and Minority Outreach Committee will be celebrating the 96th anniversary of suffrage for women with an amazing seminar on WOMEN EMPOWERING WOMEN. Watch for details very soon.

Best,
Your DPDC Staff, Officers and Volunteers

CLICK HERE FOR DIRECTIONS TO GREENE VALLEY
In 1835, William Briggs Greene acquired 200 acres of present-day Greene Valley Forest Preserve from Daniel Greene, his uncle. When surveyors mapped the land in 1840, they reported how they "left Brill's wheat field and entered hazel and red oak brush and scattering timber." This and other descriptions of stunted oak trees mixed with thorn thickets and wooded ravines offer an idea of how the area once looked.
The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County first purchased land at the site in 1926. An acquisition in 1969, the same year that the District officially named the property, added the historic Oak Cottage, the 1841 farmhouse that William Greene had built. By the mid-1970s, the District had completed its acquisitions at Greene Valley Forest Preserve.
THANKS TO SHANNON BURNS, FORMER FOREST PRESERVE COMMISSIONER FOR PROCURING AND FUNDING THIS SPACE FOR US!
PLEASE put your money where you know your heart is today.

The BEST WAY TO get completely plugged in is to become your neighborhood's Democratic go-to guy or gal! Contact us at TEAMPC@dupagedemocrats.com  and we will put you in touch with the right people to get you appointed and in the swing of turning your neighbors out easily during this next election.
More information for the voter such as status look-up, precinct number, sample ballots, important dates ahead, etc can be found here as well.

REMEMBER TO SIGN UP FOR THE ANNUAL PICNIC POTLUCK TODAY RIGHT
